Recent Review....

By  DJ  -  See all my reviews This review is from:  A Lost Shepherd (Perfect Paperback) When I started reading this book, I wondered how honest it would be about the inside workings of the Church and it wasn't long before I realized that the author was writing it with his heart. I could not put it down and soon realized it was a love story, a love of his family, church, faith, and above all the love of our Heavenly Mother Mary and how she can change and move our lives. Great must read, especialy if you are Catholic.

Hit 'like'

How many times do we see that phrase? It's on almost every advertisement.  Years ago it was something if a product had its own web address...now all you need to do is click or hit something and you are instantly connected. There is the spiritual practice of offering short little phrases to Our Lord throughout the day. O Lord have mercy on me, a sinner. Happens to be one of my favorites. I suppose it is similar to hitting a spiritual 'like'. That said...be sure to hit the like button for the Facebook page on your left and God bless. Michael

Storming Heaven with Prayers and The End of the World

What would happen if we stormed Heaven with prayers....as many prayers as people shop on black friday and cyber monday???? On another note. I noticed there is a date for the end of the world.   It is December 21, 2012. Having a date for the end isn't a new concept. St. Benedict said, "Always keep death before you." Perhaps some good could come out of the fear mongering. Advent will be upon us in a few days. Take the time ---To pray a little more ---Fast a little more ---Go to Confession ---Receive Holy Eucharist ---Read some more Scripture......in these '5' ways you will be preparing for your 'day'---whenever it may come.

Social and Spiritual

Once again I have ventured into the world of social webwork. Twitter:   @praylium Facebook:  CLICK HERE I hope this helps with some homegrown publicity for the book.  Of course if you feel so moved to share these links I would be grateful. God Bless and have a Holy Advent. -Michael

Just A Reminder....

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.  I have heard from several people expecting to attend the Marian Gathering.  Please share the word that this has been cancelled.  I am very sorry to announce that the Marian Gathering with myself, Wayne Weible, and Fr. Bill Kiel scheduled for November 25 has been cancelled. We look forward to rescheduling the event within the year. God Bless, Michael

Mis-Use of 'Ex-Priest'

Read this... "....Thomas Groome, an ex-priest who serves as national co-chairman of Catholics for Obama. Groome, who has criticized Catholic teaching on women’s ordination, wrote in 2002 that “the presence of women as priests and bishops would be an extraordinary gift to the life of the Catholic Church.” In one work, he wrote: I visited [Rome] on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6, 2000 … I was present for the papal mass on that Epiphany morning, and the liturgy reflected the same exclusivity – no women or people of color in the sanctuary, only white men and none of them looked poor. Now I found myself wondering if Jesus, who founded a radically inclusive community of disciples – catholic at its best – would recognize any of this as his legacy..." It was taken from  catholic culture. org  Here is the part that gets me--the description of Thomas Groome, an 'ex-priest'. Guys like him give guys like me a bad rap, (come to think of it--for ...

5.0 out of 5 stars   Religion meets Humanity ,  August 28, 2012 By  steveh  -  See all my reviews This review is from:  A Lost Shepherd (Perfect Paperback) If you are, as I am, looking for inspiration and help to understand why the Church sometimes seems to "get in the way" of our Faith, look no further. The courage Mike had to share his story is a gift to those blessed enough to read it. My faith journey now makes sense and I know I'm not alone. The reason you can't put this book down is because someone finally wrote about what you've been thinking or feeling. We thirst for help understanding our Clergy as human beings like us. HERE'S YOUR OPPORTUNITY! READ THE BOOK: OPEN THE DOOR TO A NEW UNDERSTANDING: & THANK GOD FOR GIVING US A LOST SHEPHERD.

Another Review

From Amazon... A Lost Shepherd, from beginning to end, keeps you wanting to know more, with each and every page that you turn. It brought tears streaming down my face in the midst of many pages, a chuckle here and there. But most of all it brought a sense of hope for all. A hope that despite all our faults, God is truly for us and he will help us with our journey, just ASK. Thank you Michael for sharing and may we all feel God's Mercy and Love!

Mary's Time = God's Time

Mary's fiat united her with God. She said "Yes, be it done to me according to His will." Therefore her will is united to God's will. And her time is united to God's time. I believed that it was her will that I write A Lost Shepherd. Along the way and through the years there were glimpses of her presence in the midst of the work.  From encouraging complete honesty and forthrightness to putting the right people in place helping the project along in a rather remarkable way.  I hoped that one day the story would help just one soul--be it a lost priest, and ex-priest, a fallen away catholic, a married couple, dad or mom--just one soul to get back to God and His Church. So now I am in the midst of another lesson from Our Blessed Mother--patience. This is probably one of the worst times in publishing history to release a book. Today I heard an interview on the radio of a bookstore owner in NYC who was closing up shop. The publishing world is in turmoil. Jus...

Recent Notes on A Lost Shepherd

A recent review of A Lost Shepherd-- from amazon.com "...  a special talent for not only telling stories, but also connecting with his audience. This book is a roller coaster of suspense, failure, and triumph. Not only is it a joy to read, but it is also a source of inspiration. "Rips" has the courageousness to share his mistakes with the world, reminding each and everyone of us that we are not perfect, and that faith is a life-long battle. He has undoubtedly been called in one way or another to lead others to Christ, and is a prime example that anything is possible when you "put it on the altar" and allow the Holy Spirit into your heart."

Where to Purchase

New Hope Press has the book and is ready to ship to you. Medjugorje Web  also has the book available for your purchase. Amazon also has the book in stock. Thanks and God Bless (check out the pilgrimage page--Late October into November is a great time and temperature to travel)

Early Thoughts on A Lost Shepherd

Mike, Finished reading:A Lost Shepherd....could not put it down...received it on Saturday and finished it in the wee hours of Sunday morning. God bless you and your family. On another note, my friend from church and I will be walking the Camino Santiago in August..please keep us in your prayers. Dionysius "...And yesterday I came across another kind of witness to the grace and mercy of God.  It is a book entitled  "A Lost Shepherd" An ex-priest's Journey from Sin to Salvation  by Michael Ripple...I'll let the comments from the cover by Father Larry Richards speak for the book. "Come and walk with a man on his journey from faith, to sin, to redemption.  It is the story of the power of grace and the love of our Father and how he calls each of us home no matter how far we might have strayed.  Read this book and believe in Christ's mercy and redemption and you will be touched!"  The book is published by New Hope Press.      I give Mike gre...

Wayne Weible

Some words from Wayne Weible on A Lost Shepherd: “...a saga of prodigal return, which to my surprise, involved the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary through her unprecedented 31-year-plus run of daily apparitions at the little village of Medjugorje.  I could not stop reading the manuscript; the story stoked the full range of my emotions.”   “My friends, this is a must read book!”--Wayne Weible Medjugorje; The Message

Pre-Ordering

I received word last week that a few pre-orders have been placed. Thanks and God Bless! Please use the link at the top of the page for email orders.

Getting There

What a week it has been. Following some computer editing glitches, uncooperative printers, and email going to the trash bin, we are back on track.  I really shouldn't be surprised, after all it was going rather smooth. Some pre-orders have already occurred and I am putting the link to New Hope on the side bar.

Book Release

It's getting close.  Here are a few notes on what's going on. First, New Hope Press Publishing has been the best.  From start to finish I knew this was a labor of prayer for them. As I write this entry-- the final edition is about to be completed and then soon to the printer.  The book cover is nearing the final layout and copies of the manuscript have been sent to a few friends. I am honored to have  Beverly Donofrio , Fr. Larry Richards , and Wayne Weible lend their words to the work. Upon it's release I will be in Dunkirk, NY at The Book Nook  for a signing. Wayne Weible was in Dunkirk a couple of weeks ago and, as the Virgin Mary has it, introduced me to the Donovans.  The rest is yet to be written. Soon I will have a direct link up for retail orders.
